Went on a call today in Ft Valley, Ga about a frigidaire dishwasher that was not draining. I got there and saw the dishwasher still had water in the bottom, and boy did it stink. So I go to start a wash cycle to see what’s happening with the drain. The first thing most dishwashers do when you start a cycle is drain. So immediately I notice the water backing up in the sink. It wasn’t the dishwasher that was stopped up, it was the garbage disposal. I turn the disposal on with the switch and I hear nothing. I turn the switch back off and look for the reset button on the bottom of the disposal. It’s normally a red button. I push the reset and turn the switch back on and it just hums. NEVER stick your hand in the disposal with the power to it on. So I turn the switch back off and start digging around inside the disposal. There was lots of gunk buildup and other debris in the disposal. I cleaned it out, turned the switch back on, and everything started draining like it should.
