This Whirlpool dryer ( GEW9250PW1 ) seemed to be working fine except it was not heating. The first thing I did to find the problem was pull the dryer out from the wall and unplug the power cord. I removed the 1/4″ hex screws from the back of the dryer to gain access to the heating element, thermostats, thermal fuses and other components. I started at the element removing at least one wire from the terminals. With my ohm meter I checked continuity across the element, the high limit thermostat, and the thermal fuse. I had continuity across the thermal fuse and the high limit thermostat but no continuity across the heating element. This told me it was a bad element. I removed the element and saw a break in the coil. Replaced the element and it’s working fine again.
