Frequently Asked Questions

At Appliance Magic, we know that choosing a company to provide appliance or heating and air conditioning services can be a stressful task. That’s why we’ve created a dedicated FAQ section on our website, which is designed to help you get to know us better and make an informed decision about using our services.

Our FAQ section

features commonly asked questions and their answers, giving you a better understanding of how we operate and what we can offer. By providing this valuable resource, we hope to make the process of selecting a service provider easier and less stressful for our customers.

GENERAL

Is this company licensed & insured?

Absolutely.  We have all necessary licenses and certifications.  These licenses include a professional conditioned air license, business license, and all technicians are EPA certified.  Our insurances include general liability, commercial auto, and workers compensation.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes.  We warranty our repairs for 1 year from the date of service.  This includes the part(s) that we install and the labor.  On new HVAC systems we do a 1 year labor warranty but the manufacturer may warranty the parts for longer than that.  We will fully discuss all warranty options with you before installing any new system.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, checks, and cash.  At this time we do not offer any financing. In the near future we hope to be set up to offer financing on major HVAC repairs or new heating and air conditioning systems.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes.  We offer a 10% labor discount for senior citizens, police officers, firemen, ambulance personnel, teachers and even power company linemen (they don’t get the credit they deserve).  This discount is applied to all repairs and does not apply to the service charge.

What are the office hours?

Monday – Friday 8AM – 5PM. Business hours may be affected by holidays and special occasions. If you are unable to reach us when you call, please leave a voicemail message and we will return your call either the same day or the next business day.

Do you work weekends?

We do not. As a small, family-owned business with a limited number of technicians, we value the importance of rest and family time for our hardworking team. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our staff while striving to meet your needs.

We do not do new appliance installs.  However, we do install new HVAC equipment that is provided by us.

Do you pick up old appliances?

We do not.  Sorry.  There are a lot of people that do though.  If you post it on Facebook in a yard sale group you shouldn’t have any problem getting someone to haul it away for you.

Do you sell used appliances?

Our used appliance stores closed around 2019 and we went back to only doing in home repairs.

Can I bring an appliance to you for repair?

There is no drop off location available.  Our technicians work on your appliances at your home.

PRICING

How does the service charge work?

Our service charge includes coming to your home and diagnosing the problem.  Once we have figured out what’s wrong we’ll give you a price for the repair including parts, labor and tax.  If you choose to do the repair, the service charge will be applied to the repair charge.  If it can’t be repaired or you choose not to repair it, you will only owe the service charge fee. In the below tabs you will find more details about each individual appliance type and the service charge fee and average repair cost.

What is the HVAC service charge?

For heating and air conditioning systems our service charge is $125 to come out and diagnose the problem.  Once we figure out the problem we will give you a price to repair it.  If you do the repair the $125 will go towards the cost of the repair.  If you decline or it cannot be repaired you will only owe the $125 service fee. Unlike appliance repair, it’s a little more complicated to give an average cost of repair for heating and cooling problems.

What is the service charge for washers and dryers?

Our service charge for washers and dryers is $85.  This charge is for us to come out and diagnose the problem.  Once we know what the problem is and what it will take to repair it, we’ll give you a total price on the repair.  If you decide for us to do the repair the $85 will go towards the repair charge.  If you decide not to repair, or it cannot be repaired, you’ll only owe the $85 service fee.  If a dryer is stacked on top of your washer the service charge is $125.  Again, this $125 will go towards the repair if you decide for us to repair it.  Most repair charges on a washer or dryer run between $155 and $225 plus parts, tax and shipping (if needed).

What is the service charge for refrigerators and freezers?

$85 for top mount freezers (meaning the freezer is mounted at the top) and all side by side (freezer on left and refrigerator on the right) systems except Samsung and LG.  Samsung and LG side by side refrigerator / freezers are $125.  All bottom mount French Door (freezer at the bottom with refrigerator double doors on top) models are $125.  These services charges, whether $85 or $125 include us coming out and diagnosing the problem.  Once we know what the problem is and what it will take to repair it, we will give you a total price on the repair including parts, tax and shipping (if needed).  If you decide for us to do the repair, the service charge will apply towards the repair charge.  If it cannot be repaired or you decide for us not to fix it, you will only owe the service fee, either $85 or $125 as described.  Most repair charges on refrigerators / freezers run between $150 and $225 plus parts, tax and shipping.

What is the service charge for ranges and ovens?

The service charge for standalone ranges is $85.  The service charge for slide in and drop in ranges is $125.  Slide in and drop in ranges are those that have a lip that the countertop supports fully or in part.  Wall ovens are also $125.  These service charges are for us to come out and diagnose the problem.  Once we know what the problem is and what it will take to repair it, we will you you a total price on the repair.  If you decide for us to do the repair, the $85, or $125, will go towards the repair charge.  If it cannot be repaired or you do not want us to repair it, you will only owe the service charge ($125 or $85). Most repairs on standalone ranges run between $150 and $200 plus parts, tax and shipping, if needed. Slide-ins and drop-ins generally run between $175 and $225 plus parts, tax and shipping, if needed. Wall ovens generally run between $150 and $275 plus parts, tax and shipping, if needed.
