HELPFUL TIPS BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE
Please note that there is absolutely no requirement for customers to perform any troubleshooting or checks before contacting us for appliance repair service. However, if you prefer to try and resolve the issue on your own, there are a number of helpful tips and tricks that you can follow. One commonly suggested solution is to turn off the breaker or unplug the appliance for 5-10 minutes. Keep in mind that while this may not always fix the problem, it certainly can’t hurt to give it a try. For those who are interested, we have provided useful information on each type of appliance to help with troubleshooting.
Refrigerators & Freezers
- Check that the condenser coils are not filled with lint and dust.
- The space around the top and sides of a freezer need to be clear.
- Be sure there are no items keeping the doors from closing.
- Make sure food and other items are not blocking air vents.
Washing Machines
- Is the water turned on and the hoses connected properly?
- If it has a filter be sure it is not clogged up.
- Most modern washers use HE detergent. Always use HE.
- Check that nothing is stopping the lid or door from closing.
Dryers
- Clean that lint filter with warm soapy water for better airflow.
- Make sure the vent is not kinked and you have good airflow outside.
- If it's not heating it may be on air fluff or no heat. Check that.
- Be sure no items are keeping the door from closing properly.
Ranges - Ovens - Cooktops
- Do the bake and broil elements look intact?
- Cycle the power at the breaker, it may help.
- Use pre-heat for more accurate cooking times.
- Keep the door closed when cooking. Heat is escaping.
Dishwashers
- Be sure the water supply is turned on.
- If a new disposal has been installed make sure the knockout is out.
- Use only dishwasher approved detergent and rinse aid.
- Check for items under the float switch if it will not start.
Under-Counter Ice Makers
- Be sure the water supply is turned on.
- Try running a clean cycle with an approved cleaning product.
- Check that drain at bottom is not stopped up.
- Reset breaker or cycle power if nothing is coming on.
